Captain "Cool Papa" George B. Williams was preceded in death by his parents, Tom & Goldie Williams; brothers, John Henry & Sergeant Major James Otis Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife, Florice H. Williams; son & daughter-in-law, Kelvin B. & Terri Williams of Dayton, Ohio; sisters, Sherlena Nichols (Norman) of Landover, Maryland & Gracie A. Richardson of Baltimore, Maryland; grandchildren, Dior, Tichina and Kylin; nephews (neph-fools), nieces, sisters and brothers-in-law and many other relatives & friends. George was born 28 April 1948 in Johnston County where he grew up beginning his incredible journey through this world. His excellence in all he did was made evident early, when he graduated valedictorian of Johnston Central High School class of 1966. He accomplished this while working two jobs as a school bus driver and a hospital orderly, culminating in him receiving an academic scholarship to North Carolina State University (NCSU). His education was cut short when
he enlisted into the United States Air Force to serve this Great country during a time of war. He diligently and honorably served a tour in Vietnam and God willing returned home safe and sound. He then continued his enlisted Air Force career, performing duties as a security specialist and a master laboratory technician, later applying for acceptance into the Airman Enlisted Commissioning Program (AECP).

Funeral Services for Captain George B. Williams will be held 2:00 pm Sunday March 27, 2016 at Johnston Central Alumni Center 1110 Massey St. Smithfield, NC. Viewing for Captain Williams will take place Sat. March 26th from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the Walter Sanders Funeral Home 302 S. Bright Leaf Blvd Smithfield, NC.
