Barbara attended schools in the Four Oaks area and later continued her education at the Johnston Community College Adult Education Program. Barbara accepted Christ in 1964 at Fuller Street Pentecostal Church Smithfield, NC under the leadership of Rev. J. A. Burgess. She later moved her membership to Alpha and Omega Christian Center, Goldsboro, NC where she was under the pastoral care of Rev. Frank Dawson. 

Mrs. Chance was preceded in death by her parents John and Bessie Wiggins, husband Conwell "Johnny" Chance, son Michael Reginald Chance, six sisters and three brothers.

Mrs. Barbara Chance is survived by eight children, Maurice Wiggins, Sandra McNeil (Douglas), Paulette Lee (Anthony), Adrienne Chance, Francine Chance, Gloria Williams (Edward), Frederick Chance (Cynthia), Va Lisa Lynn (Gregory), a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service: Monday October 28, 2024, at the Alpha and Omega Christian Center 1210 Clingman St Goldsboro, NC, viewing from 11:00 am until 11:30 am and Funeral Services starting at 11:30 am.
