Mrs. Mattie Louise Rowland, age 77 of Smithfield, NC passed quietly away Saturday January 20, 2018 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Mrs. Rowland was born In Johnston County to Lillian and Gilmore Farmer on October 21, 1940. She attended Johnston County Training School JCTS and was a part of the graduating Class of 1960. Following graduation she married James Howard Rowland and together were blessed with three children Salethea "Tiny" Baber, James "Timmy" Rowland and Jeffrey Devon Rowland (deceased) two grandchildren. Ms. Mattie and Mr. James have been married for 58 years. She also leaves to mourn her loss two grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Rowland was employed with the US Chamber of Commerce, Washington DC for 25 years where she retired.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Rowland are scheduled for Saturday Jan 27. at St. Peter Church of Christ DOC 1011 E. Massey St. Smithfield, NC. Viewing starts at 12 noon followed by funeral services at 1:00pm. Walk thru
viewing will be Friday January 26th from 4:00pm until 7:00pm.
