Reverend Marion Staley Jr. entered into eternal rest on Sunday October 21, 2018. Rev. Marion Staley Jr. age 79 was born May 4, 1939 in Orangeburg SC, his parents were Marion and Pearl Staley. Marion attended public schools in New York City and completed his education there.
Rev. Staley met Virginia Lee Jones and married her on September 1, 1961. Rev. Marion Staley retired from Metropolitan Transit Service after 30 years of service. He relocated with his family back to Selma, NC in 1989. He began working with Johnston County Public Utilities as Site Crew Manager and retired after 12 years of service.
Reverend Marion Staley Jr. was an upright servant of righteousness, who cherished his family, loved his God. He also loved singing, praying and preaching God’s word.
In addition to his wife of 57 years Virginia Jones Staley, he leaves to cherish his memories Three children; Jonathan Staley of the home, Marion Staley (Trenesi) of Smithfield, NC, Samantha Staley of Pine Level, NC. In addition to his children he leaves Eight grandchildren; Masada, Hadassah, Messiah, Nereyah, Meorah, Kheced Staley of Smithfield, NC, Monica Staley and Antonio Pierce of Pine Level, NC., Two sisters; Lilly Pearl Haigler and Roxie Bell Cobb (Frank) both of Orangeburg, SC.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday October 27, 2018 at First Missionary Baptist Church Smithfield at Fourth & Caswell St. Viewing will begin at 12 noon followed by funeral services at 1:00pm.
