Scott James Galbraith, 60, of Smithfield, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 15, 2018. He was born in Sea Cliff, NY and was preceded by parents William and Ruth Galbraith of Asheville, NC.
Scott was a graduate of North Shore High School of Glen Head, NY, earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Pennsylvania State University, and was a graduate of The United States Naval War College at Newport, RI. He was an officer on the US Aircraft Carrier Enterprise and was employed for seventeen years by the State of North Carolina Office of Emergency Management.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Ruthetta, of Smithfield, NC, step sons Andrew Rose of Angier, NC and Donald Rose of Wilmington, NC, four grand-children Cheza Rose, Alex Rose, Allison Rose and Kiaura Rose, sister Claudia Baert of Effort, PA, brothers Bruce Galbraith of Old Bridge, NJ and Glenn Galbraith of Knoxville, TN, Aunt Jean Shea of Port Jefferson, NY, nieces Jennifer Hoffman of Wapwallopen, PA, Megan Galbraith of Knoxville, TN and nephew William Galbraith of Knoxville, TN, Tom and Michelle Boyle of Deer Trail, Co and other cousins.
Scott was known by many for his humor and intellect. He will be greatly missed by those who knew his heart and potential.
A Memorial Service will be held to receive friends and family on Saturday, July 28th from 11:00am to 1:00pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 303 Canterbury Road, Smithfield, NC 27577. Following the memorial service the family will receive guest at 38 Towbridge St Smithfield.

Message: I was reading thru some things on a cold bd windy day here in Colorado, when I stumbled onto this Obituary … I knew Scott well at NSHS and we shared a lot of letter while he was out at sea and in SF … he visited us when we lived there. Best wishes to the family - from both myself and my sister Cathy - we both spent a lot of time together way back when!

Message: I only recently heard of Scott's passing. We had gone to the same church as kids, were classmates in HS, and worked together doing landscaping two summers. He had an uplifting spirit and loved to sing. This is a tragic loss, the world is poorer without him. My condolences and peace to his family.

*Message: We wish to convey our deepest sympathy to the Galbrath family. The death of a loved one is painful this I know from personal experience, I take great comfort from the scriptures like Eccesiastes 9:5 where we are comforted in knowing that the dead know nothing. Yet at the same time we helped to see they are sleeping,why because John 5 28,29 says there is going to be a resurrection of the dead. And we can really appreciate what is said at Psalmist 34:15 that Jehovah his ears here there crystal for help. So pray for God's help and he will help you learn to cope with your lost.
