Dr. Henry J. Rodgers age 72 of Kinston NC passed away on Thursday September 12, 2024. Dr. Rodgers was the son of Julius and Frances Rodgers. 

Dr. Rodgers leaves to cherish his memories his wife Ruby Dortch-Rodgers, two children. Aundria Treadwell Russell, Kelvin Henry Williams, grandchildren, Nigel Christopher Treadwell, Gabriel Isaiah Treadwell, Deanna Treadwell-Tranquilino, Kenesha Williams, great-grandchildren, Annaliese Elizabeth Treadwell, Kimoni Stephanie Williams, Kimon Antonio Williams, Andre Tranquilino Treadwell, one brother, Richard Carter a host of other relatives and friends.

Message: On behalf of Piney Grove[DOC]Church family , would like to express our most sincere sadness at the tragic loss of our great Pastor Dr. Henry Rodgers, that happen so quickly. In this time of great sorrow, please know that the family are in our thoughts and our prayers. I hope that you can take comfort in the fact that Pastor Rodgers is with the Lord now. He lives on, not only in our memories, but with our Heavenly Father as well. 2 Cor.5:8" We are confident, I say and willing rather to be absent from the body, and be present with the Lord. 9 Wherefore we labour, that whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him."
Hopelessness and despair may well up in our hearts and it can seem as though comfort is beyond our reach, but as Christ tells us, "Blessed are they that mourn; for they shall be comforted." Matt 5:4.
Your sadness is ours also; and we want you to know that you are not alone. Our Savior Jesus is with you and wants you to trust in him as you cope with your sorrow. Allow him in your heart so that he can heal your wounds and relieves your pain. Jesus said, "Let not your heart be troubled, ye believe in God , believe also in me.
We feel that he carried out his duties very well. He was humble, a faithful steward, gentle, peaceful, integrity .He lead and guided us in the right way to go. He was a teacher and preacher of the word God. He provided spiritual guidance. He preached all the word of God not holding any back and he relyed on the power of the HOLY SPIRIT. His life was devoted to Christ and he taught sound doctrine, was respectable and a good example to the church.
NO AMOUNT OF WORDS CAN CONVEY HOW SAD WE FEEL.

Message: Beautiful Lady, what a blow, shock, hurt when my husband told me My Professor, had departed this life!
O', how i wanted to find you.
My husband was so, so, blessed to meet him at Grantham on Wednesday.
He had a couple of needs, my husband working on his hobby.
They had conversation, etc...
But when he told me at home, Dr. Roger's spirit had taken flight...his body was sleeping...Um!
I thank GOD for his expertise in Theology...
Serving the WA, as Dean of Theology, him teaching, last year Homoletics, i was blessed to be 1 of his students that graduated, received our Certificates.
He was a Master Instructor/Professor.
GOD chose a caring, kind, called & chosen Servant.
His Spirit is Sailing with the Eagles, not with the Cros.

Message: I met Uncle Henry before he became "Uncle Henry" in 2006 at the University of Mount Olive (formerly Mount Olive College). We were in the same Cohort pursuing our Bachelor of Science Degree in Religion.
He was kind, caring, considerate, and one of the the most humble people I have ever met. His smile could light up a room. It was evident that he was a born again, Holy Spirit-filled believer who really did want God to get the Glory out of his life. I am convinced that he will hear God say, "Well done!"

He will certainly be missed.
