Milford Lee Pierce quietly fell asleep in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family on June 22, 2018 after a lengthy illness. He was 76 years of age. Brother Pierce was a faithful member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ (CLJC) of the Apostolic Faith in Wilson, NC.
Born in Wayne County, North Carolina, Brother Pierce was married for 53 years to the late Adoris Atkinson Pierce and together they raised nine children. He is survived by two brothers, Marcellus (Gloria) and George Pierce; daughters Carolyn Frierson, Cassandra Atkinson, Sonja Pierce, Tonja Pierce, Alicia Stevens, Doris Pierce and one son Johnnie Atkinson; granddaughters Destiny Murphy, Jennifer Sims, Kala Gulley, Tyler Stevens and grandsons Anthony Dunston (Kim), and Devan Stevens; great-grandson Michael Hinton, great-granddaughters Tiffany Horton, Cam’ryn Lynch, Avante Dunston, Kashea Dunston, Hayden Alston; Nephews George Pierce (Marie) and Novelle Pierce; great nieces Pamela, Teresa, and Deidre Tyler. Brother Pierce was the foreman for Rebarco Steel Construction Company for over 40 years and retired to take care of Mother Pierce due to her declining health. Because of his love for the outdoors, he continued gardening and taking care of all his family’s needs until his health began to fail in 2015.
Brother Pierce was known as a quiet man of great strength both spiritually and physically. He loved his family dearly; and most of all he loved the Lord. His favorite parts of the Bible were the New Testament Epistles of Paul which he would talk about for hours with his family.
Brother Pierce is loved greatly and will be missed dearly by his family, friends and church members; but we know that he has gone home to be with the Lord.
Memorial Services for Mr. Pierce will be held Saturday June 30, 2018 at Church of The Lord Jesus Christ Apostolic Faith, 514 E. Walnut St Wilson, NC beginning at 12:30 pm.
