Brian Dareal Sanders, age 60 was born May 6, 1960 in Smithfield, NC to the late Everette and Barbara Sanders (Willie). Known for his unmatched speed as an all around athlete, he was often called the “Fastest man in Smithfield”, setting and breaking records on the track field. He continued to coach and help mold future track stars until his death in Fort Worth, Texas. 

Brian is survived by his sister Sonya Willie of Fort Worth, Texas, sons; Brian Sanders, Jr of Louisiana and Devon Johnson of Virginia, daughters; Brenae Cole of Tennessee and Asia Johnson of North Carolina, two grand-daughters; Bre'ian Sanders and Jordan Cole. He also leaves to cherish his memory one uncle- Michael Reddick (Lorraine) of Saratoga, NC, five aunts; Gwendolyn Reddick - Cinninati Ohio, Johnetta R. Lee (James) - Clinton, Maryland, Yvonne Patterson ( Earl ) - (Aunt Bonnie) - Goldsboro, NC, Eleanor Weeks - New Jersey and one great- great aunt - Flossie Avery - Winston-Salem, NC. Lastly, he leaves a loving amount of cousins, old and new friends to remember his wonderful outgoing personality and great spirit. Rest Well! 

Memorial Services for family and friends to reflect on the life of Brian, Monday November 9, 2020 in the Walter Sanders Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel 302 S. Bright Leaf Blvd., Smithfield, NC from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm. 25 persons will be allowed, Facial coverings required. Services will stream live on our Facebook page beginning at 5:55pm Monday Nov. 9, 2020.
