Mr. Carl Kenneth Watson
Mr. Carl Kenneth Watson, age 77 formerly of Smithfield, NC passed away at Hebrew Home of Riverdale in the Bronx, New York on Tuesday November 30, 2021. Mr. Watson was born March 22, 1944 in Philadelphia, PA. His parents were the late Lee Kenneth Watson and Lillie Mae Watson.
Carl attended Johnston County Training School (J.C.T.S.) and graduated with the “Class of 1962”. Carl was a standout football player and was even offered a scholarship to play at the next level. Following graduation the very next day Carl moved to New York City, where he had a career as a New York City Civil Servant a job from which he retired. Carl was a very active proud member of the Johnston Central Alumni Association even as his health declined.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; Lee K. Watson and Lillie Mae Watson, wife; Janice Watson, son; Lionel Watson, brothers; Harry Watson, Dennis Watson, and sister; Janice Watson.
He is survived by his son; David Watson (Shelly) and sister; Hazel Watson Bryant, four grandchildren; Darnell Watson (Chaveilla), Jamila Feaster-Rawls (Noah) Deneen Watson, Elijah Watson, five great-grandchildren; Hayden, Caelynn, Callie, Chase, Amelia, god-daughters; Nina and Crystal Ferrell, Daughter-in law; Miyoshi Watson-Johnson, numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Also, a special lifelong friend James Ferrell.
Funeral Services
for Mr. Watson are schedule for Saturday December 11, 2021 at Evans Chapel AME Church Smithfield, NC. Viewing from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon with services beginning at 12:00 noon. Facial Coverings and social distancing will be observed and required. Services will live stream on our Facebook page at 12 noon.
