The Walter Sanders Funeral Home regrets to inform you of the passing of Mr. Derrick Ormond Danvers age 73 of Fayetteville, NC. Mr. Danvers was born June 2, 1942 to the late Doris Danvers in Spanish Town, Jamaica. During his young adult life Derrick made a decision to move to the United States to pursue opportunities as a Construction Heavy Equipment Engineer. Derrick later met and married Regina. He and Regina remained as one for over 40 years.
Derrick was preceded in death by his wife Regina, father and mother Doris.
Derrick Danvers was blessed to share five children with his beloved, three daughters; Regina (Lady Day), Elisha (Yaz), Carol, two sons; Dean and Dave, fourteen grandchildren, ten great grands, one brother, two sisters, four sister-n-laws, and a host of nieces, grand nieces, nephews, grand nephews, cousins and friends which are to numerous to name individually to continue his legacy.
Derrick resided in several areas in the State of New York before deciding later to "Take it to the South". He enjoyed the warmer weather and the cool breezes which reminded him of his hometown in Jamaica. He also loved to capture all his experiences with his expensive "Nikon camera". Derrick loved speaking in his native tongue and
enjoyed listening to reggae music. His favorite artist included Burning Spear, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and many others. Derrick's favorite meals included fish, tea, soups, jerk chicken and ox tails made right.
This is a simple snapshot of his life. Derrick is "Gone But Not Forgotten".
A message from the children, "Thank you for investing in us and teaching us life's valuable lessons just when we needed them most".
