Troy Merritt Jr., was born on January 22, 1940 to the parents of Troy Bennett Merritt and Mary Cox Merritt-Lewis in Newton Grove, NC., he departed this life Wednesday November 25, 2020 at the SECU Hospice House, Smithfield, NC. He attended the Johnston County School System, where he also was employed and retired.
Troy Merritt Jr, was preceded in death by both parents Troy and Mary, 3 siblings, Joanne Lewis, Joyce Lewis-Poston and John Earl Lewis. He leaves to cherish his wife Lola Felton- Merritt, daughters, Deloris Merritt-Johnson (Gregory), Debbie Merritt-Ford (Lyndon), D. Bonita Merritt-Chasten (Travis), Michelle Drakeford-Merritt, and one son, Terrill Troy Merritt (Jessica).
Three sisters, Mary Alice Merritt-Darden (Carnell), Barbara Lewis-Peten (Joseph), Betty Jean Lewis-Lee (Thurman) and two brothers Billie Ray Merritt (Willie Mae) and James Curtis Lewis. 12 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grands.
Memorial Services will be held for family members Saturday December 5, 2020 in honor of Mr. Merritt, at the Walter Sanders Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 pm. Guests will be allowed by invitation with a maximum of 20 guests allowed
in the chapel and Facial coverings are required.
