Mrs. Bessie L. Joyner Hammiel, age 78 of Selma NC will be eulogized Saturday August 5th. Viewing and visitation will begin at 10:00am followed by funeral services at 11:00am. Services will be held at Southern Grove Baptist Church 1058 Old Stancil Rd, Kenly NC. There will be a walk thru viewing Friday August 4th at Walter Sanders Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 7:00pm.

Mrs. Hammiel was born June 25, 1939 in Johnston County, NC. Her parents were Coy and Lily Joyner.

Bessie attended and graduated from Richard B. Harrison High School. she worked for and retired from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Bessie also sold real estate in the Washington DC, Metro area.

She is survived by her husband Willie Hammiel, two sons Willie Adrian Hammiel, Erik Desmond Hammiel, four sisters; Jessie Mae Sharpe, Dorothy Eason, Brenda McDougal, Glenda Williams, one brother; James Aaron Joyner, many other relatives and friends.
