Mrs. Betsy B. Sanders
Minister Betsy Ann Barfield Sanders known to many as “Wee Bit” was born in Johnston County on January 25, 1938, to the late Wilbur and Dollie Lee Barfield. After a full life, she entered eternal rest on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at Smithfield Manor Nursing and Rehab.
She was a strong proponent of prayer and a stalwart prayer warrior with a sharp prophetic gift. Betsy obtained her Nurse’s Aide certification and worked at Johnston Memorial Hospital, various nursing homes, and she taught in daycares. Betsy found joy in taking young people under her wing, reading spiritual literature, singing, fishing, crocheting, bargain shopping and her plants. However, her greatest joy was being a loving mother for her family and teaching them the ways of God.
In addition to her parents, Betsy was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Sanders, Siblings: Christine Barfield, Wilbur Barfield, Jr., and Mary Barfield Byrd; special sisters: Annie Ruth Price, Emma D. Bojang, and Josephine Williams, and the father of her children, Weston Willis Sanders.
Left to cherish warm memories are her children, Ricky D. Sanders, Sr., Vickie D. Sanders, and Michael Anthony Sanders ( Monica) 8 grandchildren ( two which she raised as her own sons Anthony Decarous Sanders and Rico Beasley – Mungin, great – grandchildren and a great – great grandchild. brother, Glenwood Barfield and a special sister, Mary Sanders and a host of other relatives and friends.

Monday Oct. 2 from 10:30 until 12:00 noon at Mt. Zion Church of Deliverance 908 South Avenue Smithfield, NC.
Funeral Services:
Monday Oct 2 starting at 12:00 noon at Mt. Zion Church of Deliverance 908 South Avenue Smithfield, NC. Services will stream live on our Facebook page starting at 11:55 am. All attending are asked to wear facial coverings.

My heart is broken into many pieces. But I rejoice in your departure, because I know you’re with the Father our “ABBA Father”
I’m not crying, but rejoicing that you made it. Mom you are missed and forever in my heart, and your daughter will always love you until I meet you in heaven. Thanks for loving me and embracing me as your daughter. I’m honored to be apart of your life. 2nd Cor. 5:8 says,
