Doris Linda McSwane Harris was born June 3, 1949, in Smithfield, NC, to the late Dock Hilton McSwane and Gladys Banks. Linda passed quietly away on Sunday, September 1, 2019 at the Duke Regional Hospital, Durham, NC.

Linda was a 1967 graduate of Johnston Central High School, Smithfield, NC. On October 11, 1969, she married the love of her life Clemmon Harris, whom her dad adored, and they began their military adventures for over 20 years.

Linda’s professional career involved working for the Johnston County Sheriff’s Department for a number of years until her retirement. She received her Associates of Arts in Early Childhood from Johnston Community College. She continued her education earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education at the University of Mount Olive, graduating Magna Cum Laude in December of 2017.

Services for Mrs. Doris Linda McSwane Harris will be held Saturday, September 7, 2019. Viewing/Visitation will begin at 1:00pm followed by Funeral Services at 2:00pm at First Missionary Baptist Curch 403 Caswell St., Smithfield, NC.

The family will receive guests at their home 388 Bayhill Dr. Smithfield, NC on Wednesday Only September 4th from 2:00pm until 8:00pm.
