Mrs. Ethel S. Words age 99 of Smithfield, NC passed on Monday January 25, 2021. Mrs Words was born August 24, 1921 in Johnston County North Carolina. Her parents were the late George and Lizzie Sanders.
Aunt Ethel graduated from Johnston County Trainig School, in Smithfield, NC. She earned her cosmetology license then operated her own shop for many years on Rand St. She later worked at K. R. Leaf Tobacco Company and subsequently continued her education in the medical field as a Ceritified Nursing Assistant (CNA). She use her training and skills at the Smithfield Manor Nuring Home where she cared for residents there.
Ethel was married to the late Fred Douglas Murphy, to that union there was one son Kenneth Delaney "Dee" Murphy who also preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memories a host of nieces, nephews, cousins , and friends.
Walk-Thru Viewing
Thursday January 28 at the Walter Sanders Funeral Home Chapel 302 S. Bright Leaf Blvd Smithfield from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm. Facial coverings are required.
Graveside Service
Friday January 29 at Selma Memorial Gardens Selma, NC beginning at 2:30 pm. Facial coverings and social distancing are required. Service will stream live on our Facebook page, starting at 2:25 pm.
