Mrs. Lela Ruth Price Carroll, age 82 of Smithfield, NC transitioned on Monday January 25, 2021 at Smithfield Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Lela was the daughter of Lonnie and Elnora Price.
Mrs. Lela attended public school in Johnston County, Forest Hills High School. She was married to the late William Carroll. Mrs. Carroll loved working in the yard and tending her garden which grew all types of vegetables, produce and fruits.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter; Linda Price, one brother; Tommie Price, two sisters; Doris Sanders, and Nell Price, a number of other relatives and friends.
Walk-Thru viewing
for Mrs. Carroll will be Thursday January 28, 2021, 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm at the Walter Sanders Funeral Home Chapel. Facial coverings are required.
Graveside Service
will be held Friday January 29, 2021 Sunset Memorial Park Smithfield at 11:30 am. Facial coverings and social distancing must be practiced. Service will stream live on our Facebook page starting at 11:25 am.

Message: Lela and I were classmates at Forest Hill High School. She was the most classy and well-mannered student that I encountered during my twelve years. She was quiet, kind, and commanded ultimate respect without having to say a word! She helped to shape my conception of what a "lady" should be.
The family, community, state and I have suffered a loss. My sincere condolence is hereby conveyed.

Message: Please except my sincere condolences for the passing of Lela. She was one of the most warm, caring, really good people with a heart of gold that I have ever met.
I had the opportunity to get to know her well over the five years I was in Smithfield and I am extremely thankful for all of the lessons that she taught me. The world is a better place for having her in it and she will definitely be missed.
