Mrs. Jewell Dean Quarles, age 69 of Columbia SC departed this life on March 9, 2016 at Palmetto Health Richland Columbia, SC She was born in Johnston Co. NC on January 31, 1947 and was the first child of late Ethel Mae Everette and the late Evondi Atkinson.

She received her elementary and secondary education at hte Princeton Grade School and graduated from Richard B. Harrison High School, Selma, NC in 1965. Jewel later attended Housatonic Community College and American Intercontinental University and Southern Connecticut State University.

Jewel was united in holy matrimony to John Quarles Jr. and this union was blessed with one daughter, Ursula Lanette Quarles. She was founding member of the House of Prayer and Deliverance where she served as the Minister of Music for 11 years. She answered the call to the ministry and founded Jubilee Tabernancle and Praise Ministry in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Jewell leaves to cherish her memories her husband Deacon John Quarles, Jr, daughter Ursula Grantham, Stepdaughters Althea Gay, Stefanie Quarles; stepson Derek Quarles; 12 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 5 sisters, and a host other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Quarles will be held Saturday March 19, 2016 3:00pm at First Missionary Baptist Church 403 Caswell St. Smithfield, NC.
