Mrs. Mattie Mae Lassiter Broadie
Mattie Mae Lassiter Broadie was born August 21, 1938, to the late Sam and Unita Lassiter. She passed away quietly on Monday December 9, 2024, at Barbour Court Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Smithfield, NC. Mattie was raised in Johnston County and attended Short Journey Elementary School and Johnston County Training School.
Mattie was married to the late John “JT” Brodie for over 60 years.
Mattie held various jobs, most notably she worked at Sylvania for 15 years, Classic Care Assisted Living as a dietician where she retired after 15 years. She was also a Certified Nurse's Assistant (CNA) for several years.
She leaves to mourn her death, her sister Mary Barfield (Kelvin Barfield) of New York, New York, niece, Juanita Barrow of Selma, NC., bonus son; Kenneth McMillan, a loving sister-n-love; Marilene Broadie of Selma, NC., an adopted daughter and caretaker; Dorothy Roberson of Smithfield, NC., a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral Services:
Sunday December 15, 2024, viewing 12:00 noon until 1:00 pm with funeral services starting at 1:00 pm. Walter Sanders Funeral & Cremations Chapel 302 S. Bright Leaf Blvd., Smithfield, NC 27577. Services will stream live on our Facebook page starting at 12:55 pm.
