Jean was born and raised in Smithfield, NC and completed her education in the Johnston County Public School System. At an early age she was baptized and became a member of the Bentonville Disciples Church. She married the late James Daniel Williams and to their union four children was born. Following his untimely death in 1969, she continued to raise their four children as a single parent. She worked at Johnston Memorial Hospital where she was employed for more than twenty years as a Head Cook and really enjoyed cooking just as much as those who enjoyed her extraordinary cuisine.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Vassie Graham; one son James Collin Williams; two sisters, Velma Watson and Martha Ann Lofton; three brothers, Alfonso Graham Jr., Charles Graham, and Alfred Graham.
Jean leaves to mourn, one daughter, Elizabeth (Edward) Cooper of Chattanooga, TN, two sons, Dennis Williams of Smithfield, NC and Reginald Williams of Charlotte, NC; two brothers, Hubert Graham of Smithfield, NC and Glenn Graham of Hampton, VA; one sister, Denise Graham of Hampton, VA; sisters-in-law, Roberta Merritt of Goldsboro, NC and Louise Williams of Smithfield, NC; two brothers-in-law, Melvin Williams of Goldsboro, NC and Joseph (Shirley) Williams of Four Oaks, NC; four granddaughters, three grandsons, two great granddaughters, five great grandsons, one great-great granddaughter, nine nieces, sixteen nephews, two great nieces, three great nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing
for Mrs Williams (Walk-Thru) will be held Monday from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Walter Sanders Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel 302 S. Bright Leaf Blvd., Smithfield, NC. (Facial coverings required, with a limit of 10 persons at a time in the chapel for viewing)
Graveside Services
Tuesday December 8, 2020 at the Williams-Hodge Cemetery Bentonville starting at 11:00 am. Due to Covid-19 we will limit the number of persons in attendance to 25. Facial coverings and social distancing required.
Services will be streamed live via Facebook Live starting at 10:55am on Tuesday Dec 8.
