Rosa Nell Sanders was born on August 29, 1939 to the late Raymond Watson and Jessie Mae Dublin Watson. She received her education at Johnston Central High School in Smithfield, NC and Brooklyn College in New York. Nell, as she was loving known, loved people and never met a stranger. She had a beautiful smile and always made everyone feel at home. Nell loved her family and was proud of her children, especially Ari, her granddaughter, who was the apple of her eye. She was active in the Brooklyn Chapter of the Johnston Central Alumni Association and was the life of every dance and fundraiser. She was also active in her church in New York “ New Frontier Baptist Church.

Nell is survived by her daughter, Audrey J. Sanders of Brooklyn, NY, her son Algie Sanders of Dallas, TX as well as her granddaughter Ariaine "Ari" Sanders of Durham, NC. She was preceded in death by her sister Louella Ware and life partner Ernest

Palmer. Nell leaves behind to celebrate her life her brother Ralph Watson (Grace), sisters Alice King and Sarah E. Watson, and nieces Candice Watson, baby A'neya Davis all of Smithfield, NC and nephew Kenneth Ware of Philadelphia, PA. Nell also leaves behind a host of other beloved family members and lifelong friends.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Sanders are scheduled for Wed. Oct 21, 2015 at Mitchener Memorial Baptist Church 911 Blount St. Smithfield, NC with viewing and visitation from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon followed immediately by the homegoing celebration at noon. The family will receive friends on Tue. Oct 20 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Walter Sanders Funeral Home Chapel.
