Mr. EC Nixon was born on June 3, 1937, in Johnston County. He was the seventh child born to the late Isham G.W. Nixon and Dessie J. Grantham Nixon. He departed this life Friday September 11, 2020.
EC is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Eunice E. Nixon, and five daughters: Cathy N. Butler (Elder Timothy Butler) Hempstead, New York, Edith N. Simmons, Four Oaks, North Carolina, Evelyn N. Moore (Tony Moore) Clayton, North Carolina, Cheryl N. Williams, Odenton, Maryland and Sherry Williams, Smithfield, North Carolina, and one son: Eric C. Nixon, Smithfield, North Carolina. He is also survived by ten grandchildren: A. Raheem Simmons (Kendra H. Simmons), Erasto Simmons, Shania Simmons, Aaron Nixon, Jared Nixon, Teion Moore, Teliah Moore, Gabrielle Williams, Sierra Williams, and Brittany Lawrence. He also leaves behind two sisters: Lillie N. Ward (Ezekiel Ward) and Mildred N. Lockett (G. David Lockett), five sisters-in-law: Olivia Nixon, Janie Elliott, Mary Dowdy, Willia Elliott and Barbara Elliott and one brother-in-law: James O. Elliott (Miriam Elliott) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

I am so sorry to hear of E. C. ‘s passing. I have known E. C. since I was a teenager stopping by his store on Devil’s Racetrack to buy a Pepsi and a snack on my way to farming my family’s land in the “ Old Mashes”. I always considered E. C. a friend.

Message: EC showed his neighborly love. After my Father, Willie had a stroke, EC carried our trash to the Waste Site for over 20 years. People will visit you when sick; but, very few will do anything. Thank God I had speech to constantly tell EC and Eunice thank you. ❤️ Y’all.
