Mr. Winston “Buddy” Whitley age 84 of Selma, North Carolina passed away on Saturday January 16, 2021 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. Buddy was born August 25, 1936 to the late Melvin and Maize Whitley of Selma.
Buddy retired from the Town of Selma, after 33 years as a Water and Sewer Crew Leader for the Department of Public Works. He also retired from the Selma Fire Department after 25 years of service. The Town of Selma honored him by naming a water tower in honor of him.
Buddy loved people and loved to have a good time especially during his birthday celebrations.
Buddy leaves to mourn his loss his son Lorenzo Whitley Sr.,(Onie), grandsons; Lorenzo Whitley Jr. (Jamie), Michael Whitley, and great grand-daughter Liliana Amina Whitley, a special friend Mamie Watson and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Walk-Thru Viewing
will be held Thursday January 21, 2021 from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm at the Walter Sanders Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel 302 S. Bright Leaf Blvd., Smithfield, N.C. Facial coverings are required along with practicing social distancing.
Committal Service
will be held Thursday January 21, 2021 from 4:00 pm until 5:00 pm in the Walter Sanders Funeral & Cremation Service Chapel. Limited to 25 persons. Facial coverings are required along with practicing social distancing.
The family will have a private burial.
